PostSubject: Guidlines for dealing with suspected hackers?   9/21/2011, 5:01 pm

From what little I've played on the server, I've noticed that there are some B3 commands to put people on watchlists/suspect lists/etc.
That got me thinking: Is it an appropriate thing to do? As an example, r3.gHostface getting a temp ban because he was suspected of low fov aimbot, in my opinion, could have been handled in a more professional manner. What we do on the server as individuals represents the clan as a whole. If ghostface is proven to be a hacker, then he's a douchebag. But if people are getting banned or put on 'watchlists' every day because "we think they are hacking but we don't know anything for certain yet" -- that makes us all look like a bunch of paranoid/alarmist noobs who cry "hacker!" when we get beat.
I propose some guidelines that we can follow when we suspect people of cheating:

1. RECORD DEMOS.
2. Watch the demos yourself, watch them again if you have to.
3. THEN post the demos to the clan forum and ask for others' opinions.
4. If the majority agree that cheating is happening, the cheater exposed & banned.
5. If there is not enough evidence or people can't see anything suspect, let it be.
6. If you can't let it be. RECORD MORE DEMOS.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think people would look at us with higher esteem if we keep our mouths shut (and B3 mouth shut too) and not say things like "we are watching you -- we think you might wh" -- Because there are really good players out there who don't cheat and they can be offended and not come back to *u| server.

Right. I should have made that clear. It has to be 100%. 99% not good enough.
